Day 3 (Aug 8, 2017 Tuesday)
Pia, also an exchange student from University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu and I will be deployed at Sabilal Muhtadin a private exclusive Muslim School. All of us went to the school together with the students from Thailand. Pia and I together with our buddies Awa and Desy went to our school where we will be deployed to meet the Head Master of the Elementary School, Wiyanto, S. Pd – Faculty of Education but unfortunately he was busy that day so we were not able to meet him. This is my first time to wear a long skirt with long sleeves. I feel so conservative ;) According to Awa, we have to go back tomorrow maybe the Head Master will be available tomorrow. We just roam around the school and saw the students and some classroom. I first noticed that all of them are not wearing shoes when entering the classroom or offices just like in the dormitory, we are not allowed to wear our shoes. Most probably that is the culture of the Muslims. They always have wooden shoe rack outside where to put all the shoes/slippers. I am not used to walking bare foot when inside the room most especially so I have to wear a pair of sock not to feel uncomfortable.
I asked our buddies to go around the school before going and I took pictures of some of the facilities. The school has a basketball court, many wash area (because before the prayer time or Sholat in Bahasa they must wash their head, face, arms, and feet).
