Day 2 (Aug 7, 2017, Monday)
We wake up early in the morning and had our breakfast in the school canteen. The seller cannot speak English so our buddies helped us in buying our food. The food is cheap however it really has a different taste compared to the Filipino food. Though it’s Monday, we are still not going to the school yet because we are waiting for the two students from Thailand to arrive. We went to Giant Ekstra, it’s the name of the supermarket in Banjarmasin where we bought our groceries. We were accompanied by our buddies Desy, Awa, Syarif, and Nida. UNLAM has a van that serves our school service and they said that we can also use it if we need to go for a tour. The driver of the van is Edwar who is also a student in UNLAM taking up his Master’s Degree.
After we went back to our dormitory, we had our dinner at the men’s dormitory which is not far from the women’s dormitory. Our buddies ordered through Go Jek - a phone application which Indonesians are using if they want to order food for delivery or ride a motorcycle. The men’s dormitory is a lot bigger than the women’s dormitory. It has four rooms, bathroom, laundry area, dining area, living room area and dirty kitchen.
